WA 18 m
Eighteen metres on the 40 cm face is the standard indoor round worldwide: twenty ends of three arrows, 60 arrows, maximum 600. Recurve, compound and barebow archers from Under 18 through 50+ all shoot the same distance and the same face, which makes it the most widely compared score in archery — an indoor 570 means the same thing in any hall on any continent. The short distance removes wind and light as variables and leaves almost nothing but execution, so indoor scores tend to be the truest read on an archer’s form. It is also the round most clubs shoot week after week through the winter, which makes a season of 18 m results the densest training record most archers own.
