WA 50 m (barebow)

WA · Outdoor · one set of distances

Barebow archers shoot 50 m on the full 122 cm face, twelve ends of six for 72 arrows and a maximum of 720, across the Under 18 through 50+ classes. Without sights, stabilisers or a release aid, the archer aims by string-walking or gap-shooting, and the large face at a middling distance is what makes that practical outdoors. The score sits well below what a sighted recurve archer would post at the same distance, which is exactly why the round exists as its own event rather than a handicap on someone else’s. Wind matters more here than in any other 720 format, since a barebow archer has fewer ways to hold the bow steady through a gust.
